Falling in Love with Your Apartment All Over Again

At one point in time in your relationship, you were floating on cloud nine and madly in love with your apartment home. You two were inseparable and everyone could see that it was meant to be. There’s a reason your apartment was “The One” – was it the layout you fell in love with? Or, perhaps it was the prime location that attracted you?

However, over the past couple of months, you’ve noticed the relationship feeling a little mundane – every day feeling like the same old, same old. You’re questioning whether this relationship is going anywhere, and if you have the drive to survive this rough patch. We, at Apartments.com, have faith that this union will last because you love your apartment, even when things are a little rocky at times.

If you and your rental are stuck in a rut, and you need some advice on bouncing back and falling in love with your apartment all over again, read on love warrior:

Switch things up.

Take a look around the apartment and figure out what items can be replaced with something new. A relationship needs to be kept exciting, and swapping out old furniture or décor for new ones is a great way to keep the home feeling fresh. Exchange an old, tired lamp with one you absolutely must have! Or replace your outdated throw pillows with plush, colorful ones to glam up the space. By doing this every couple of months, alternating rooms, you can ignite the spark again!

Dress up the walls.

Plain walls and windows are a total mood killer when you come home to your apartment. Dress up the space by adding wall art and window treatments! Adding paint, artwork, pictures, or curtains is a great way to spice things up and work on saving your relationship with the apartment. An interior facelift will help make the home more inviting. Think about updating the curtain rods, too.

Lighten up the space.

Brighten the space with lamps and mirrors in the apartment. Rentals, specifically apartments, generally have windows on just one side of the home, which may cause some rooms to be consistently dark in some areas. Place lamps and mirrors around the home to create more light, which can help lighten your mood! Mirrors can enhance natural light in a space, as it reflects the sun beams streaming in through the window.

Shake up the furniture.

A little feng shui here and there can make a big difference in the feel of the home. Maybe the reason you felt distant from your apartment was because of the dullness of the furniture layout. When you have a rockn’ setup that’s functional and utilitarian, you and your guests will be completely satisfied in the space.

Organize to feel affection.

Being up to your eyeballs in clutter can turn a person resentful of their home and send them into frenzy. Constant chaos can cause a downward spiral in a relationship, so kick it to the curb by getting your space clean and organized. Start small, like in a coat closet or bathroom cabinet, and work your way throughout the home. Knowing where things are will help to improve the quality of life you’ve established and the love you feel for your apartment.

Here at Apartments.com, we want you to love your apartment and celebrate home. The passion you have for your space is undeniable and you’ll do anything it takes to make it successful. But, if for some reason the relationship doesn’t pan out, find your new love on Apartments.com!
