Best Neighborhoods Pages

As a renter, you know that choosing an apartment is more than just choosing a floor plan. Where you live shapes your daily routine: from how long your commute takes to where you'll grab your coffee on a Saturday morning. But figuring out which neighborhood fits your lifestyle isn't always easy.

Meet our newest feature, Best Neighborhoods pages! Best Neighborhoods is a new way to explore the top neighborhoods for renters in major cities before you start your search.

Introducing Best Neighborhoods Pages

Best Neighborhoods Cards

Best Neighborhoods pages are city-specific hubs that showcase top neighborhoods for renters, making it easier to compare your options. Instead of researching areas one-by-one, Best Neighborhoods pages let you narrow down the areas that match your lifestyle and budget.

Each neighborhood card gives you a quick look at what makes the area unique, with photos, a short description, and helpful tags like “Walkable,” “Historic,” or “Public Transit.”

Cards also show the neighborhood’s average rent and current number of available units.

How does Apartments.com choose the best neighborhoods?

To identify the best neighborhoods for renters, Apartments.com uses a proprietary scoring model that weighs renter demand and local livability. It pairs renter interest with everyday factors like access to grocery stores, parks, dining, shopping, schools, and transit.

Amenity data comes from Local Logic, and school data comes from GreatSchools. Rental data comes from CoStar Group's Market Trend reports and is combined with public records to give a fuller picture of each local rental market.

Using the Best Neighborhoods Pages

Where can I find Best Neighborhoods pages?

Best Neighborhoods - Area Guide

To find a Best Neighborhoods page, visit the local guide for the city you're interested in. For example, if you need to find a perfect fit in Atlanta, head over to Atlanta's Local Guide page.

To access a city's local guide while apartment searching, simply click on the menu in the top left corner of your screen. Then, scroll down to "Area Guide."

How to Access Area Guides During an Apartment Search

Once in your target city's area guide, scroll down to the Popular Neighborhoods section. If a Best Neighborhoods page is available for that city, you'll see a button that takes you straight to it. Back in the Atlanta example, that button leads to Best Neighborhoods in Atlanta, where you can compare top renter choices like Midtown, Buckhead, and Old Fourth Ward.

Best Neighborhoods pages are currently available in select cities.

Everything you need to know about a neighborhood at a glance

Start by browsing the neighborhood cards to compare what each area offers. When a neighborhood catches your eye, select "View (Neighborhood) Rentals" to see apartments currently available there, or select "View (Neighborhood) Guide" to learn more.
