Stairs leading to a large condo community.

Whether you’re looking for an apartment, or a room in an apartment, to stay in for the duration of an internship or a temporary work assignment, finding a sublet for the summer is a great way to avoid signing and breaking a 12-month lease. The following websites provide plenty of options for finding a sublet.

Flip.lease

Flip offers an easy way to search for sublets in a variety of cities. Type in the name of the city you’re searching for a sublet in, and you will see your results in a tile format displaying a picture, the rent price, the number of bedrooms and bathrooms, and whether the sublet is for a private room or the entire place. Alongside the tiles is a map, distinguishing the sublets by price and showing where they are located.

Sublet.com

From the search bar on Sublet.com’s homepage, you can specify whether you’re looking for sublets, roommates, furnished apartments, and more. Enter the location you’re looking for sublets in, and your results will appear in a detailed list stating the price, address, and number of bedrooms and bathrooms along with pictures.

Leasebreak.com

While specific to New York City and surrounding areas, Leasebreak.com offers a thorough search with detailed filters that include the option to select the length of your lease, your desired neighborhood(s), building amenities, apartment features, budget, and more. Your results appear in list form, with a quick overview of the listing along with a featured image.

Airbnb.com

In addition to vacation rentals, Airbnb also lists sublets. From the sublets page, you can enter where you want to stay, the anticipated start date of your lease, and the length of your stay—which can be anywhere between two weeks and six months. Results are listed in a grid format alongside a map.

Need to stay longer? Apartments.com

If you’d prefer to find a short-term lease over a sublet, you’ve come to the right place! Type the location you’re looking to find an apartment in on the Apartments.com homepage’s search bar. Then use the filter feature to specify short-term options and any other requirements you’re looking for in your rental, from your price range to furnished units and more. Results appear alongside a map of your location.

You also have the option to plan your commute—click on the filter button near the search bar and then the plan my commute option next to search filters. Enter your workplace location, mode of travel, and desired travel time to filter your results even further.

Good luck on your move! Take a look around the Renterverse to find helpful information for every phase of your renting journey.
