Luckily, it's not hard to find great neighborhoods in which to rent if you feel like setting up in Albuquerque for a few months, a year, or longer. Whether you're looking for affordability or a touch of class, these neighborhoods will have you covered. But of course, by all means, take a full tour of the city before you decide where to settle.
Nob Hill
A great place full of young people, families and retirees alike. Nob Hill once sat on the very Westernmost edge of the town, back in the 1950's. Today, Nob Hill is right at the commercial heart of the town, and you'll find tons of great restaurants and shops there. Near the University of New Mexico, you'll find a lot of students and faculty members living and visiting Nob Hill and dining at the various cafes and eateries on breaks. Apartments here range from surprisingly affordable to a little more on the luxurious side.
Downtown
The Downtown area may be a little costlier than some of the other neighborhoods in Albuquerque, but you'll know where that extra rent money is going when you step right outside your front door and walk over to the Kimo theater. Just about any time of day, you can find something fun to do and something good to eat when you're Downtown in Albuquerque. Downtown is loaded with historic buildings from the fifties and sixties that any renter would love to call home.
Broadway Central
Probably the most walkable area in all of Albuquerque, with just over a thousand residents, great public transportation, and plenty of lanes for biking. Prices range from medium to high in Broadway, but there are some affordable spots that open up from time to time, as well.
Living in Albuquerque doesn't have to be a permanent decision. In any of these neighborhoods, you can set up shop, see how you like it, and take your time deciding whether or not to dig your heels in.
