It’s more than likely going to take you a couple of weeks to completely set up your new apartment. On the night you move there won’t be enough time to dig around for essentials such as face wash, dishes, sheets, and bath towels. A “first-night” box has all the contents needed for a comfortable first stay in a new home. Below is a list of items that should be included in your box on the first night living at your new place:
1 roll of toilet paper per bathroom
3-pack roll of paper towels
Toiletries and medications
Clean linens for each bed
Bath towel and washcloth for each person
Phone and laptop/tablet charger
Basic tool kit
Set of clothes, pajamas, and undergarments
Disposable utensils and dishware
Water bottles
Disinfecting wipes
Hand soap
During the first night at your new home, you never want to be without toilet paper and paper towels! Moving all day is tiring and the last thing you’re going to feel like doing is making a trip to the grocery store to pick up these supplies. With the wipes, disinfect the counters, showers/bath and toilets. This will be enough until you have some time to really do a top-to-bottom clean of the apartment.
Because everyone is well-deserving of a comfortable rest, be sure you pack a set of bed linens. Toiletries should also be inside the overnight box, along with a tool kit, water bottles, clothing, medications, and hand soap. Disposable plates and utensils are excellent to have for your first night, even if you’re just ordering a pizza. They come in handy the following nights too, just in case it’s taking a bit longer to unpack the kitchen.
And while you eat your dinner, streaming a movie on the tablet or laptop might be fun – so make sure your charger has made its way into your first-night box.
